Automatically run sequences when specific response events occur

Event-based sequences start automatically when qualifying response events are processed.

Supported Trigger Events

When Trigger Type = Event-Based (Automation), you can choose:

  • survey_completed
  • promoter (NPS 9-10)
  • detractor (NPS 0-6)
  • low_nps (NPS <= 6)

Setup Steps

  1. Open your sequence.
  2. In Settings, set Trigger Type to Event-Based (Automation).
  3. Select the Trigger Event.
  4. Ensure sequence status is Active.

If sequence status is Draft/Paused/Archived, it will not auto-fire.

How Enrollment Works

When a response is processed, the system:

  1. Calculates matching response flags (completed/promoter/detractor/low NPS).
  2. Finds active event-based sequences with matching trigger event.
  3. Creates a sequence sending enrollment.
  4. Dispatches the workflow runner.

Practical Patterns

  • Promoter flow: review request + referral prompt
  • Detractor flow: fast follow-up + manager escalation
  • Any completed response: thank-you and next-step nurture

Common Reasons It Does Not Fire

  • Sequence is not active
  • Trigger type not set to event
  • Trigger event mismatch
  • Response has no associated contact

Validation Checklist

Before production rollout:

  1. trigger event matches intended condition
  2. sequence status is active
  3. at least one valid step exists
  4. test response path confirms enrollment behavior
