Billing Overview

Understand demeterrr's subscription tiers, pricing, feature limits, SMS usage, and how to manage your billing from the settings page

The Billing page gives you a complete view of your subscription, usage, and plan options. Navigate to Settings > Billing to access it.

Subscription Tiers

demeterrr offers three tiers, each designed for different business sizes and needs. All plans include a 7-day trial.

The Starter tier is designed for small businesses beginning their customer experience program. With 500 monthly surveys and 3 team members, it supports a moderate feedback collection operation. The Callbacks feature becomes available at this tier, enabling follow-up workflows for unhappy customers.

The Pro tier removes survey limits and adds SMS sending, review management, and API access. This is the most popular tier for businesses actively managing their online reputation alongside survey feedback. The 200 monthly SMS are included in the base price, with add-on packs available if you need more.

The Business tier is built for organizations with multiple locations and larger teams. It includes everything in Pro plus multi-location support (separate dashboards per location), white-label branding, and 500 monthly SMS. There's no cap on team members.

The Billing Page

Current Plan Card

The top card shows your active subscription:

  • Tier name (Free, Starter, Pro, or Business)
  • Billing cycle (monthly) for paid plans
  • Current limits for surveys, users, and SMS
  • Cancellation date if you've scheduled a plan downgrade or cancellation

If your organization has a Stripe billing profile, a Manage Billing button opens the Stripe Customer Portal where you can update payment methods, view invoices, and modify your subscription.

Plan Comparison Section

Below the current plan card, all four tiers are displayed side by side with features and pricing. Your current plan is highlighted. Click the upgrade button on any higher tier to start the checkout process.

SMS Usage Card

The SMS Usage card tracks your month-to-date SMS consumption:

  • Progress bar showing percentage of your monthly SMS limit used
  • Warning indicator when usage exceeds 80% of your limit
  • Buy Add-on button to purchase additional SMS packs when available

SMS limits reset at the start of each billing cycle.

SMS Add-on Packs

If you run out of SMS before your billing cycle resets, you can purchase add-on packs:

  • 500 SMS for $10 per pack
  • Available on Pro and Business tiers
  • Purchased SMS are added to your current month's balance
  • Unused add-on SMS do not roll over to the next billing cycle

Purchase add-on packs directly from the SMS Usage card on the Billing page.

Upgrading Your Plan

To upgrade:

  1. Go to Settings > Billing
  2. Find the tier you want to upgrade to
  3. Click the upgrade button
  4. Complete the Stripe checkout process
  5. Your new plan takes effect immediately

When upgrading mid-cycle, Stripe prorates the charge. You only pay the difference for the remaining days in your current billing period.

Downgrading or Cancelling

To downgrade to a lower tier or cancel:

  1. Click Manage Billing on the Billing page
  2. This opens the Stripe Customer Portal
  3. Select the new plan or cancel your subscription
  4. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period

When downgrading, you retain access to your current tier's features until the end of the paid period. After that, features exclusive to your old tier become unavailable. Your data is preserved but certain pages may show an upgrade prompt.

Important: If you downgrade from Pro to Starter, you lose access to Reviews, API, and SMS. If you downgrade from Business to Pro, you lose multi-location and white-label features. Plan accordingly before downgrading.

Billing FAQs

What happens if I exceed my survey limit?

On the Free and Starter tiers, you cannot create new surveys once you've reached the limit. Existing active surveys continue to accept responses, but you'll need to upgrade or wait for the next billing cycle (Starter) to create new ones.

Can I change my payment method?

Yes. Click Manage Billing to open the Stripe Customer Portal, then update your card or payment method.

Where are my invoices?

Invoices are available in the Stripe Customer Portal. Click Manage Billing and navigate to the invoice history section.

What happens to my data if I cancel?

Your data is preserved after cancellation. You can still log in and view historical responses, reviews, and reports. You just can't send new surveys or access tier-locked features until you resubscribe.

Do unused SMS roll over?

No. Both included SMS and add-on SMS reset at the start of each billing cycle. Plan your SMS campaigns within your monthly allocation.
