Survey Settings and Branding
Customize survey appearance, branding, messages, and configuration options
Make your surveys look professional and on-brand with demeterrr's customization options. This guide covers all survey settings and branding features.
Accessing Survey Settings
- Open your survey in edit mode
- Scroll to Survey Settings section (below questions)
- Configure options as needed
- Click Save Changes
Basic Settings
Survey Name
Purpose: Internal reference only (customers don't see this)
Best practices:
- Use descriptive names: "Post-Appointment NPS Q1 2026"
- Include purpose and timeframe
- Distinguish between similar surveys
Examples:
- ✅ "Toronto Location - Post-Service CSAT"
- ✅ "Q1 2026 Customer Loyalty NPS"
- ❌ "Survey 1" (not descriptive)
Survey Description
Purpose: Internal notes about survey purpose
Use for:
- Documenting survey goals
- Note-taking for team context
- Tracking changes and versions
Example: "Post-appointment CSAT survey sent 2 hours after visit. Updated March 2026 to include parking question."
Survey Status
Three status options:
Draft:
- Cannot be sent to customers
- Visible only to your team
- Perfect for building and testing
Active:
- Ready to send to customers
- Appears in send dialogs
- Can be used in sequences
Archived:
- No longer active
- Hidden from main survey list
- Responses preserved and viewable

Branding and Appearance
Primary Color
What it affects:
- Buttons (Submit, Next, Previous)
- Progress bar
- Selected options highlight
- Links and accents
How to set:
- Click the color picker
- Choose your brand color
- Preview updates instantly
Best practices:
- Use your business's primary brand color
- Ensure good contrast with white text
- Test on mobile for readability
Examples:
- Medical/Dental: Blue (#2563eb)
- Restaurant: Warm orange (#f97316)
- Salon: Purple (#a855f7)
- Professional Services: Navy (#1e40af)
Logo Upload
What it does:
- Displays at the top of your survey
- Reinforces brand recognition
- Increases survey legitimacy
Requirements:
- Format: PNG, JPG, or SVG
- Max size: 2MB
- Recommended dimensions: 200x80 pixels (or similar aspect ratio)
- Transparent background recommended for PNG
How to upload:
- Click Upload Logo
- Select your file
- Logo appears at top of survey
- Click X to remove
Best practices:
- Use horizontal/wide logo format
- Keep simple (detailed logos hard to see at small size)
- Test on mobile (logo scales down)
Background Color
What it affects:
- Survey page background
- Area around survey card
Options:
- White (default, clean)
- Light gray (#f3f4f6)
- Custom color
Best practices:
- Use subtle, light colors
- Avoid dark backgrounds (reduces readability)
- Match your brand if appropriate
Content Customization
Welcome Message
What it is: Optional text shown above survey questions
Use for:
- Greeting customers
- Explaining survey purpose
- Setting expectations
Examples:
Simple: "Thank you for visiting us! We'd love your feedback."
Detailed: "Your feedback helps us improve. This quick survey takes less than 2 minutes to complete."
Personal: "Hi {firstName}! We hope you enjoyed your visit. Please share your thoughts below."
Best practices:
- Keep it short (1-2 sentences)
- Be friendly and appreciative
- Mention time commitment if long survey
Thank You Message
What it is: Message shown after survey submission
Use for:
- Thanking customers
- Confirming submission
- Next steps (if any)
Examples:
Simple: "Thank you for your feedback! We truly appreciate it."
With action: "Thanks for your feedback! We'll review it and reach out if needed."
Incentive: "Thank you! Your 10% discount code is: SAVE10. Check your email for details."
Best practices:
- Express genuine gratitude
- Confirm their response was received
- Mention any next steps or incentives
- Keep it positive and brief
Completion Redirect (Optional)
What it does: Redirect customers after completion
Use cases:
- Send to your website
- Show a special offers page
- Display detailed thank you page
- Track conversions
How to set:
- Toggle Enable Redirect
- Enter full URL (must start with http:// or https://)
- Choose redirect delay (0-5 seconds)
Examples:
https://yourbusiness.com/thank-youhttps://yourbusiness.com/special-offerhttps://yourbusiness.com(homepage)
Best practices:
- Use HTTPS (secure)
- Test the redirect URL
- Add delay so customers can read thank you message
- Mention redirect in thank you message: "Redirecting you to our website..."
Privacy and Compliance
Anonymous Responses
What it does: Hide respondent identity
Toggle on if:
- You want honest, unbiased feedback
- Anonymity increases response rates for your audience
- Sensitive topics where people might hold back
Toggle off if:
- You need to follow up with specific customers
- You want to link responses to customer records
- You're sending to known contacts (they're tracked anyway)
Note: Truly anonymous means:
- No email/phone pre-filled
- No contact association
- Can't identify who responded
Require Contact Information
What it does: Force email/phone collection
Use when:
- Following up on all responses
- Offering incentives (need to send them something)
- Building contact list
Skip when:
- You already have contact info (sending to known customers)
- Anonymity is important
- You want maximum completion rate
GDPR Compliance
Privacy Notice (optional): Add text about how you'll use the data
Example: "Your responses will help us improve our services. We never share your information with third parties. View our privacy policy."
Consent Checkbox (optional): Add required checkbox for explicit consent
Example: "☐ I consent to demeterrr storing my responses"
Notification Settings
Email Notifications
Receive an email when:
- New response submitted
- Survey reaches X responses
- Detractor response (NPS ≤ 6)
Configure:
- Toggle Enable Notifications
- Enter email addresses (separate with commas)
- Choose trigger (every response, detractors only, milestone)
Slack Integration
Post responses to Slack channel:
- Connect Slack integration
- Choose channel
- Select trigger (all, detractors, promoters)

Response Collection
Response Limit
What it does: Stop accepting responses after X submissions
Use for:
- Limited-time campaigns
- Controlling sample size
- Incentive limits ("First 100 responses get 10% off")
How to set:
- Toggle Enable Response Limit
- Enter maximum number
- Survey auto-closes when reached
Closing Date
What it does: Stop accepting responses after specific date
Use for:
- Event feedback (close week after event)
- Time-bound campaigns
- Seasonal surveys
How to set:
- Toggle Enable Closing Date
- Select date and time
- Survey auto-closes at that moment
After closing:
- Survey shows "This survey is closed"
- No new responses accepted
- Existing responses remain viewable
Advanced Settings
Progress Bar
What it does: Shows completion percentage
Toggle on if:
- Survey has 5+ questions
- You want to encourage completion
- Multi-page surveys
Toggle off if:
- Very short survey (1-3 questions)
- You don't want to discourage if survey is long
Question Numbering
What it does: Display "1.", "2.", "3." before questions
Toggle on if:
- You have many questions
- You reference questions by number elsewhere
- Formal survey style
Toggle off if:
- Short, conversational survey
- Questions are in logical sections
- Modern, minimal design preferred
Show Question Descriptions
What it does: Display helper text below questions
Toggle on if:
- Questions need clarification
- Instructions are important
- Complex question types
Toggle off if:
- Questions are self-explanatory
- You want minimal design
One Question Per Page
What it does: Break survey into steps (one question per screen)
Toggle on if:
- Long survey (reduces overwhelm)
- Mobile-first audience (easier scrolling)
- Conversational feel
Toggle off if:
- Short survey (unnecessary clicking)
- You want overview of all questions
- Desktop-first audience
Preview Your Settings
Live Preview Mode
Test all settings:
- Click Preview button
- See survey exactly as customers will
- Test on desktop and mobile
- Verify:
- Logo displays correctly
- Colors look good
- Messages are clear
- Redirect works (if enabled)

- Test redirect
- Verify logo displays
Update Regularly
- Refresh welcome message seasonally
- Update logo if rebranding
- Review thank you message periodically
- Keep completion page relevant
